The Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway (OTHR) mission to operate a heritage tourist train from Oberon Station to the Oberon branch line siding at Tarana Station, a number of planned steps are required to achieve this aim.
5 Year Plan
- Obtain Heritage Operators Licence (HOL) for the Oberon Yard.
- Obtained HOL 29th August 2017
- Obtain Track certification of the Oberon Yard.
- Oberon Yard certification completed (October 2015)
- Oberon Yard recertification completed (December 2017)
- Obtain Accreditation for Rail Operations, Rail Infrastructure maintenance, Track maintenance vehicles, Rolling stock restoration within the Oberon yard.
- ONRSR Accreditation for track maintenance, rolling stock restoration (July 2017)
- ONRSR Accreditation for the use of track maintenance vehicles (July 2017)
- Applying accreditation for shunting of rollingstock with a tractor February 2018
- Applying accreditation for shunting of rollingstock with a Loco June 2018
- Increasing OTHR profile as a tourists destination. (Planned for March 2018)
- Increase the number of the days that tourists can view / enter the Oberon Yard precinct. (Planned for March 2018)
- Increase the number of displays / activities for tourists to view. (Planned for March 2018)
- Rolling stock acquisitions / restorations. Continuing restoration of Car Set 21, Privately owned section car now on site and negotiations with US based owner of a TAM Sleeping Car, to be loaned to OTHR
- Increase the number of volunteers of OTHR 6 new from Oct 17 to Jan 18
- Maintain Oberon Yard, Station, and Rolling Stock, Sheds, Tourist profile and activities.
10 Year Plan
- Obtain Heritage Operators Licence (HOL) for the Oberon Branch line from the Oberon Yard to the Oberon Branch Line Siding at Tarana Station.
- January 2018 have sought a variation to existing HOL from JHR to carry out track maintenance from Albion Street to Tarana as an interim step to gaining a HOL on the remainder of the line to Tarana
- Obtain track certification for the line between Oberon Yard and Hazelgrove.
- Obtain Accreditation for Rail Operations, Rail Infrastructure maintenance, Track maintenance vehicles from Oberon Station yard and Hazelgrove.
- Have set a target date to run work trains to Hazelgrove by 31/12/2018
- Have set a target date to run a heritage tourist train form Oberon to Hazelgrove by 11/11/2019 which will be 40 years since the last train ran.
- Maintain as per the 5 year plan and include the line /activities to Hazelgrove.
15 Year Plan
- Obtain track certification for the line between Hazelgrove and the Oberon Branch Line Siding at Tarana Station.
- Obtain Accreditation for Rail Operations, Rail Infrastructure maintenance, Track maintenance vehicles from Hazelgrove to Oberon Branch Line Siding at Tarana Station.
- Maintain as per previous plans and include the line / activities to Tarana Station
