Calling all hands to the May working bee ..

Our Rolling Stock Shed is about to come together!

Our working bee in May 12-18, 2012, will be all hands on deck as we continue the construction on our rolling stock shed.  Our April wokers saw great progress with about half the roof section assemble and sheeted. The next step is for our volunteers to begin assembling the steel framework, and securing the sheeting onto the 2nd roof section.  The roofing sections will be sheeted on the ground, and then craned into place once assembled, so no safe working height restrictions will apply for this task.

We hope to also be able to begin to install the check rail into the Albion Street level crossing rail section which has been prefabricated and awaiting a date from council for it’s installation.

Working Bee Accomodation

Some of our accomodation problems have also been solved with the newly formed Oberon Men’s Shed coming on board to provide their ‘shed’ as accomodation for out of town volunteers.   The Shed has a TV, toilet and kitchen facilities.  Volunteers will need to provide thier own bedding & linen. Let us know if this is difficult as we may be able to round up some camp or air beds for your use. The only cost involved will be for our volunteers to join the Oberon Men’s Shed (for insurance purposes) which is an annual cost of just $10.00.

There are no showing facilities at the Men’s Shed, however Sally & Bob from the Jenolan Caravan Park have generously offered free use of their shower facilites (which are new & clean) for OTHR workers.  Just show them your Induction Card at the office before you go in.
