Lowes Mount Road Crossing November 26, 2015
Previous working bee
April 2015 – Albion Street Crossing Re-installed by Oberon Council
March 2015 Working Bees.
The usual monthly working bee was held from Saturday 6th to Wednesday 11th March. After thiat good start to the month Track Manager, Graham Williams has called on local members to come in for a morning or afternoon to complete specific tasks. Some of this was to make sure that timbers and sleepers are in the yard and ready for use during the April Working Bee. For example, during the afternoon of Monday 30th a small group collected 15 or so timbers from the line access road at Hazelgrove. A difficult job due to length and weight of the timbers as well as the over growth of biddy bush on the access road.
The main focus this month has been on the yard and in particular the completion of the roads 1, 2 & 3 into the Rolling Stock Shed. A qualified track certifier has been on site, at our invitation, and his comment was “It looks good and you have done a good job.” While the progress has often seemed to be slow over the last few months we are very close to finishing the roads 1, 2 & 3 mentioned above. The focus will shift to the main line and loop road in the yard and we expect to be able to arrange for certification of the whole yard, including those into into the Rolling Stock Shed after the May Working Bee.
This month eleven volunteers worked a total of 308 hours, which is remarkable and an excellent contribution.
Look through the March Newsletter for some photos of the “Fettlers Gang” in action.

Railway Heritage Display – Oberon Station – Saturday 4 November 2017 10.00 am to 2.00 pm
A collection of railway items, maps, photographs and merchandise on display.
The normal monthly working bee dates coincided with the Oberon Steam and Vintage Fair. On Saturday 7th. Many members gathered at the “Railway Precinct” to show the General Public what was happening at the Oberon Station. Barry Webb and Arthur Robinson had spent days mowing the lawns and using grass trimmers to level the taller grass. They also cleaned up the station. Paul MacDonald had prepared three new displays on the history of the railway which were strategically placed on the station. Under the clear blue skies of the day the whole area looked magnificent. We had a large number of members rostered to look after different areas and overall it was a great day. Win News gave us some good coverage on Tuesday following the day, with good views of the station, the miniature railway heritage carriages. Arthur Robinson also featured in a short description of his 1926 Chevrolet.
