One of the only sets of photos taken on the last regular steam hauled service on 23 Jan 1963. Graeme says: “I don’t remember seeing other photographers but Graeme Bedwin (resident caretaker at the Zig Zag Railway), and David Taylor were there with me and my brother Brian. Maybe a few of the locals at Oberon took photos when the train left there but I don’t think there were people with cameras at Tarana. The last steam-hauled train left Oberon mid-afternoon, departing from Tarana for the return run to Oberon not long before sunset. The crew seemed to get into the spirit of the occasion but had only toilet paper to decorate the train. I notice in one shot that the HCX carriage also had toilet paper attached.
